Thomas was a contemporary of Francis who joined the Order in 1215, while Bonaventure was a second-generation Franciscan who never knew the founder. Thomas of Celano wrote the first two lives of Francis and the first biography of Clare.
It was a worldwide bestseller, and in 2003 when this new edition was first published, it again sold more than 60,000 copies and was a selection of History Book Club.
Francis (c. 1182-1226) and Clare (c. 1193-1254) together shaped the spirituality of early 13th-century Europe. Here for the first time in English are their complete writings, brought together in one volume.
This is a fantastic book. Enjoy!
This book will help readers come to a deeper understanding of these saints and of their Franciscan way to God.
